No more, and no less than that.. TJD3 Kickstarter backer here. TJD is a very nice point'n'click trilogy with an unique atmosphere, great characters, spot-on art and music. Really refreshing setting and humor. However I have to say I felt TJD 3 is the weakest game of the 3, less charming than the others. TJD 2 stands out as the best episode to me.TJD 3 can be completed in 3-5 hours, which is more or less the same duration of the first 2 games. I wish this final game lasted more than 3-5 hours because since the game is split up between the underland and St Armando locations, it feels more rushed than TJD 1 & 2 which happen almost solely in Kingsbay (TJD1) and Port Artue (TJD2).I didn't understand the rock'n'roll segment in TJD 3, it felt disconnected from the plot and the caribbean atmosphere of the game. Puzzles are a lot easier than in the first two games, overall I never got stuck longer than 5min, which leaves you wanting more. Imo it's a bit sad because you can't enjoy some locations (especially in the underland) as much as you would like since you won't revisit these more than once, usually.Despite the (really talented) TJD1&2 composer has passed away, his successor does a fine job at recreating the same kind of music vibe and there's plenty of tracks as well. The cinematics are also well-made, except for the cheap explosions effects, and the voice acting is solid overall, except for a few voices such as the chief of the pirates.TJD3 also includes some references to previous episodes, whether it's a previous character making an appearence, or an old character we can finally meet in person, which is cool. I must say I wish Kito played a larger role in the story, being able to play as him even for a short sequence would have been nice. The end is okay but I expected more of it, it's too standard/happy and not enough focused on the main characters. And the 2 vilains of the story are not really well fleshed-out characters, they are less interesting than Barlow in TJD2.All in all it's still a pretty neat game, just a bit weaker in its conclusion than Black Epiphany for the Blackwell series for instance. Can't wait to see what devs come up with next.. A final conclusion in the series. Great voices, great art, great story! I loved this series.. I first discovered The Journey Down back in 2010 when the first chapter was released. I absolutely loved the story and plot set up, Bwana and Kito were loveable and adorable characters, and I was so disappointed that I had to wait for the continuation. Then comes 2014 and Chapter 2 hits Steam. I'm beyond excited and eagerly make my way through the entire game, absolutely thrilled by the plot, fantasic soundtrack, and wonderful gameplay. Watching the credits roll for Chapter 2 made me so excited for the conclusion to this epic series. Sometime after playing Chapter 2, life took over, and I fogot about the series...until Steam notified me that TJD3 was available from my Wishlist. The Journey Down Chapter 3 is hands down, the best chapter of bunch. It does a fantastic job wrapping up all the loose ends, answering all the questions, and tying up all three game's lore together. Bwana and Kito during their adventures through St. Armando, Port Arture, and the Underland have not only matured this loveable duo, but also gave them the true hero's journey. Without spoiling anything, I was absolutely more than satisifed with the way the story wrapped things up. The ending had me very emotional, realizing that this almost ten year journey has come to an end.Sky Goblin should be more than proud to have stayed determined with this wonderful game. One of the things that I absolutely love is how much attention to detail the graphics really go. It's quite an educational experience. It's these fine touches that really show just how much love and care these games have been given. And as for the sound track. RIP Souzamusic, your music was absolutely wonderful to listen to. It's some of the most memorable music I've EVER listened to in a game. The world lost a wonderful composer, but his work will always live on through TJD. As for Chapter 3's composer, Jamie Salisbury, I equally enjoyed his soundtrack. He did a fantastic job of capturing the essence of St. Armando. The sound track screams 80's and I really enjoyed how relaxing it was. SkyGoblin chose well!As I write this review, I can't help but feel emotional for the developers. This has been an amazing experience. As a fan of the series, I'm so happy that I got to see the end of the Journey Down. It was WELL worth the wait and money spent. I most certainly can't wait for whatever new adventures SkyGoblin has in store for us! I highly, highly recommend The Journey Down Chapter 3 for fans of the series. For newcomers, I highly recommend that you go back and play the first two games to get acquainted with what is going on. Thank you, SkyGoblin for the wonderful "journey" you've given me throughout all these years!. Ah! It's over! It's all over! Like the previous two parts, an utterly delightful game. Just campy enough with all of the supporting characters. Thanks team for making a wonderfully casual point/click puzzle adventure game.. A nice wrap-up for the series with great music. Maybe a little short but it's been a while since I played the others, took me about 4-5 hours.
